The 40-Hour Program
The Ontario Ministry of Education created the 40-Hour Program in 1999 as a way to encourage youth to make positive contributions to their communities. This program requires high school students in grades nine to 12 to complete a minimum of 40 hours of volunteer work in order to graduate.
Volunteering for one of our member agencies not only enables you to complete this requirement, but also provides personal benefits such as valuable work experience, and an awareness of the important role you can play in your community.
The Peel District School Board has created a resource material, entitled "Your Time Counts" to help students complete these requirements. As well, the Ontario Ministry of Education has provided some guidelines as to suitable activities.
For further information on volunteering for one our member agencies, please contact your organization of interest through the contact information provided on this web site.
